Irecently became part of the writing team for the great Drums Etc. magazine! I’m truly honoured to be part of this Montreal-based publication, and to be included with some great veteran writers and drummers. My first article will appear in the Feb/March issue, the premiere of the new drums-only format. Click here for information about the magazine and all of the new changes.
Towards the end of last year, I had the honour of performing at the 20th edition of the Montreal Drum Fest. I brought my trio, Paul Shrofel on piano and Remi-Jean LeBlanc on bass, and together we flew through a handful of great standards. It was such an amazing time, and was fortunate enough to chat with legends like Joel Rosenblatt, Stanton Moore, Damien Schmitt, Bruce Whittet, Larnell Lewis, the Drumbassadors, Gergo Borlai, Eric Boudreault, and Magella Cormier. A big thanks goes out to the organizers (Ralph Angellilo and Serge Gamache) as well as my sponsors (Pro-Mark, Dream, Sonor, and Evans) for getting me there and making it all happen!

I had the great privilege of recording the CBC radio/web show “Reworking Randy featuring Nikki Yanofsky”, with Randy Bachman. Nikki did one of her originals, “Shy”, and decided to do an arrangement of “These Eyes” by the Guess Who, of course. She sounded amazing, as always, and continues to be super easy to work with. It was a very cool experience, and a pleasure to work with Randy as well. My first Dream Cymbals are up there: 20″ Bliss Crash/Ride, 22″ Bliss Ride, and 22″ Bliss Crash/Ride. Drums Etc. magazine ran a feature article on me in the May 2011 issue. Jenn Hardy and I talked about playing a shuffle, life on the road, my relationship with the great Vic Vogel, and lots of other cool stuff.
